Bird control means stopping birds from roosting, nesting and fouling on a building — without harming them. Everything SpikeZone makes is a passive deterrent: it changes the surface so the bird chooses to go elsewhere. There is no shock, no poison and no trap in any of it.
The problem is almost always specific. A pair of pigeons nests on one AC unit. Crows roost along one parapet. Sparrows get into one shaft. Because it is specific, the fix is specific too — and getting the product right matters more than getting the brand right.
The question that decides everything
Are you protecting a surface the birds land on, or closing an opening they fly through? Spikes do the first. Nets do the second. Almost every wrong purchase we hear about comes from answering this the other way round.

They are the same technology at two scales, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. The difference is the surface, not the bird.
If your surface is wider than about four inches, one row will not do it. Birds simply land behind the strip.
If you know the surface but not the product, start from the surface:
Balconies, window sills and AC units. Usually a DIY job with a kit, finished in an afternoon. Society approval is often the first hurdle, not the product.
Facades, cornices, signage and covered walkways. Appearance matters, so polycarbonate and discreet fixing are usually specified.

Netting is the exception
A small accessible balcony can be a DIY net job. A shaft, a truss bay or anything at height is not — tensioning and perimeter fixing are what make a net work, and a slack net is worse than no net at all.

SS-304 stainless typically lasts well over a decade outdoors. Polycarbonate and ABS last several years in direct sun. Netting depends far more on the fixing than on the mesh.
Yes, and it is one of our most common applications. Use adhesive rather than screws so the casing is not pierced, and keep the vents clear.
For spikes, usually not — they are barely visible. For netting, usually yes, because it changes the elevation. Societies approve netting more readily when a whole face is done to one specification.
